It’s Not Just a Sticker
Matte PPF vs. Matte Vinyl Wrap: What’s the Difference?
A lot of people confuse matte PPF with a standard vinyl color change wrap. From ten feet away, they can look similar., but up close, and especially over time, they are two completely different animals.
Vinyl Wrap is for Style
A standard matte vinyl wrap is thin. It’s designed primarily to change the color or finish of your car. If you have a white car and want it matte black, you use vinyl. While it offers a tiny bit of protection against light scratches, a decent-sized rock on the highway is going to punch right through it and chip
your paint.
Matte PPF is for Protection (and Style)
Matte PPF is significantly thicker. It is a urethane film designed specifically to absorb impact. When a rock hits matte PPF, the film absorbs the energy and bounces the rock off, leaving your paint untouched underneath.
Here is the magic trick: matte PPF is usually clear (but with a matte finish). We apply it over your existing paint color. With a matte finished vehicle, this application blends well with your existing finish. If you have a glossy red truck, applying matte PPF turns it into a stunning satin red. You get the custom look of a wrap with the heavy-duty protection of clear bra. It’s the best of both worlds.

Myths About Matte Finishes

It’s Harder to Keep Clean
Actually, it’s easier. Glossy paint shows everything. Every water spot, every fingerprint, every micro-scratch reflects light and screams for attention. Matte PPF diffuses light. It hides minor dirt and dust incredibly well. You can actually go longer between washes without your car looking like it went off-roading in a swamp.
You Can’t Fix Scratches
This is only true for matte paint, but it’s completely false for matte PPF. One of the coolest features of this film is that it is self-healing. If you get fine scratches or swirl marks on the film, you don’t need a buffer. You just need heat. Park the car in the sun on a warm Greenville afternoon, or pour some hot water on it, and the film effectively self corrects, making the scratches disappear.
It Ruins the Paint Underneath
People worry that the adhesive will bond permanently to the clear coat. We don't use cheap adhesive. High-quality matte PPF is designed to be removable. If you decide five years from now that you want your glossy car back, we can peel the film off. Your paint underneath will look exactly the same as the day we covered it; brand new and untouched by the elements.

How to Care for a Matte Car
Car Instructions for Matte PPF
Put the Wax Away
Taking care of matte PPF is simple, but it does require you to unlearn a few habits. The biggest rule is this: Do not polish or wax it.
Traditional car wax and polish are designed to fill in imperfections and create a high-shine surface. If you wax a matte car, you are essentially trying to make it shiny. You will end up with splotchy, uneven shiny spots that look terrible and are a pain to remove.
Washing is Easy
You can wash your car with standard automotive soap and water. We recommend using a soap specifically designed for matte finishes just to be safe, as some "wash and wax" soaps contain gloss enhancers that you don't want.
Drying
Because the surface is textured (that’s what makes it matte), it can hold water a little more than a slick glossy surface. We recommend using a leaf blower or a dedicated car dryer to blow the water out of the crevices, followed by a soft microfiber towel. It’s actually faster than drying a glossy car because you aren't obsessing over streaks.
Spot Cleaning
Bird droppings and bug guts are still the enemy. While the film protects the paint from etching, you should still wipe them off as soon as possible. Use a matte detail spray and a microfiber cloth. Do not scrub it with a scouring pad.
The Ultimate Makeover
The Benefits of a Full Body Matte PPF Package
Complete Protection
Your car is fully shielded from rock chips, scratches, and road debris, ensuring its exterior stays in pristine condition. Whether you're driving on highways or navigating rougher roads, this protection helps maintain your vehicle's appearance and value by guarding against the everyday wear and tear caused by your journey.
Unique Aesthetic
With a satin finish, your car’s body lines are accentuated in a way that simply isn’t possible with traditional gloss paint. This unique texture creates a subtle, refined look that enhances the vehicle’s contours, giving it a sleek, modern aesthetic that stands out without being overly flashy.
Resale Value
When you go to sell the car, you peel the film off and reveal pristine, factory-gloss paint underneath. It’s like unwrapping a time capsule.

You Have Questions, We have Answers
Matte PPF FAQ’s
Does Matte PPF come with a warranty?
Yes. We only use premium film that is backed by a manufacturer's warranty, typically lasting 10 years. This covers things like yellowing, cracking, peeling, and bubbling. If the film fails, we fix it. We don't like doing rework, so we do it right the first time.
Can I take it through an automatic car wash?
Technically, yes, the film is durable enough to handle it. Do we recommend it? Absolutely not. Automatic car washes with spinning brushes are brutal. They beat your car with dirt-filled slap bracelets. While the self-healing film will fix the scratches, the harsh chemicals often used in touchless washes can degrade the film over time. Hand washing is always best.
How long does the installation take?
A full body Matte PPF wrap is a labor of love. It takes time to get the edges right and ensure there are no bubbles or lift lines. Expect to leave your vehicle with us for about 3 to 5 days. We know you’ll miss it, but perfection can't be rushed.
Is it more expensive than clear PPF?
Matte PPF does typically cost a bit more than clear PPF. This is contributed to the specialized finish of matte PPF. This service also requires a little extra time in order to avoid any glossy and visible seems.
