The Problem with the Middleman

Why "Brokering" a Sign in Greenville, NC is a Bad Idea

Here is a dirty little secret about the sign industry: a lot of "sign companies" don't actually make signs. They are just middlemen with a nice website and a markup. You hire them, they hire a factory three states away, send the drawings to a wholesale manufacturer who has never seen your building and hope for the best.

This causes a few problems:

  • Delays: If the factory is backed up, you wait. If the shipping company drops the crate, you wait longer.
  • Quality Issues: If the sign arrives with a scratch or a typo, the broker has to send it back. That adds weeks to your timeline.
  • Cost: You are paying the manufacturer, the shipping company, and the broker's profit margin.

By manufacturing in-house, we eliminate the bloat. We control the schedule. If something isn't right, we don't have to file a claim with a shipping carrier; we just walk out to the shop floor and fix it.

The In-House Advantage

Total Control Over Your Project

When we say we offer custom commercial signs, we mean we are actually customizing them ourselves. Manufacturing in-house gives us, and you, total control over the final product.

  • Speed: We don't have to wait for a slot in a massive national production queue. We set our own schedule. If you have a grand opening in Winterville next week, we can prioritize your job to make sure you have a sign when the ribbon gets cut.
  • Accountability: If a bulb burns out or a seam looks funny, you don't get the runaround. We built it, so we own the quality. There is no passing the buck to a third-party vendor.
  • Adaptability: Sometimes, plans change. Maybe you realize halfway through the project that you want the letters to be blue instead of black. With a broker, that change order is cumbersome. With us, it might just mean walking to the back and swapping a roll of vinyl.

High-Quality Signs for Every Business Need

What We Manufacture

Channel Letters

You know those lit-up letters you see on every strip mall from Raleigh to the Coast? We bend the aluminum returns (the sides of the letters), cut the acrylic faces, and install the LED modules by hand. We ensure they are watertight and bright enough to be seen from the highway.

Light Boxes and Cabinets

These are the workhorses of the sign world. We weld aluminum frames, install heavy-duty polycarbonate faces, and wire up the lighting components. We build them to be sturdy because we know how harsh the summer sun and winter storms in Greenville, NC can be.

Monument and Pylon Signs

These are the big freestanding signs you see at the entrance of shopping centers or office parks. Manufacturing these requires serious fabrication skills, steel welding, concrete anchor patterns, and structural engineering. We handle the fabrication here, ensuring that when our installation team takes it to the site, it fits the foundation perfectly.

Building Signs That Last

Quality Materials for a Harsh Climate

We love North Carolina, but let's be honest: the weather here can be confused. One day it is 95 degrees with 90% humidity, and the next day it is pouring rain. Your sign sits out in that mess 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Because we manufacture locally, we know exactly what your sign is up against. We don't use cheap materials that might survive a mild climate but will crack in our humidity.

  • Aluminum: We use high-grade aluminum that won't rust. Steel is strong, but unless it is treated perfectly, it rusts. Aluminum is the king of outdoor signage.
  • Automotive Grade Paint & Powder Coating: We use paints and finishes designed for vehicles. If it is good enough for a car doing 70mph on the highway, it is good enough for your sign.
  • Premium LEDs: Not all lights are created equal. Cheap LEDs dim after a year or start flickering. We use premium modules that stay bright and save you money on your electric bill.

The Manufacturing Process

How the Sign Gets Made

We aren't hiding anything. Here is a simplified look at how we take a concept and turn it into reality.

  1. Routing and Cutting: Once our design team finalizes the file, we send it to our CNC router. This machine cuts metal and plastic with robotic precision. It ensures every letter is perfectly shaped.
  2. Fabrication and Welding: This is the noisy part. Our fabricators bend metal and weld frames. This creates the "bones" of your sign.
  3. Painting: We move the sign to our paint booth, where we apply primers and finish coats. We can color-match to your specific brand colors, so your sign matches your vehicle wraps and business cards perfectly.
  4. Assembly and Wiring: This is where the sign gets its soul. We install the LEDs, power supplies, and faces. We test everything in the shop before we even load the truck.
  5. Quality Check: We stare at it. Seriously. We look for scratches, light leaks, or anything that doesn't look perfect. If it passes, it goes to the installation team.

Getting Into the Nitty Gritty

Frequently Asked Questions About Sign Manufacturing

  • Do you really make everything in-house?

We manufacture the vast majority of our signs in-house. There are some very specific, niche items that require a foundry, which we outsource to specialized partners. But for your standard channel letters, box signs, and monuments? That is all us.

  • Can I come see my sign being built?

If you are in the Greenville area and want to see the progress, just give us a call. We can text you a photo, which we’d prefer to do rather than putting on safety glasses and walking through a shop full of sparks.

  • How long does it take to manufacture a sign?

It varies based on complexity. A simple flat panel sign might take a few days. A complex, illuminated monument sign might take 4-6 weeks. However, because we control the queue, we can give you a much more accurate estimate than a broker who is guessing based on what a factory told them.

  • What if I already have a design?

That works for us. If you have a logo or a full architectural drawing, we can take it from there. We might need to tweak the file to make sure it is actually buildable, but we will work with you to keep the design intent intact.

  • Is custom manufacturing more expensive?

Not necessarily. When you cut out the middleman, you cut out their markup. You are paying for materials and labor, not a broker's commission. Plus, buying a higher quality sign that lasts 10 years is always cheaper than buying a cheap sign you have to replace in three.
